What is Tramadol hydrochloride 50 mg?
Tramadol may be prescribed when weaker painkillers have not provided enough relief. The photographed Tillomed product is a capsule.
Use only as prescribed for you. The strength printed on the box is not a recommended dose; follow your own prescription and the leaflet supplied with your medicine.
Read the tramadol guide: uses, side effects & questions ↗Taking this medicine
Swallow capsules whole with water. Tramadol comes in standard and slow-release forms with different schedules; follow the instructions for your exact product. Do not increase the amount if pain remains uncontrolled—request a review.
Before taking it
Older adults and people with liver or kidney problems may need doses spaced differently. The duration depends on the cause of pain and your response.
- Dependence and addiction are possible. Discuss treatment duration and a stopping plan with your prescriber.
- Avoid alcohol. Do not drive if sleepy, dizzy or unable to concentrate.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines, health conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding before treatment.
Other medicines and interactions
Check antidepressants, sleeping medicines and other painkillers with a pharmacist. Do not add codeine-containing products, including co-codamol, without advice: side effects can increase.
Possible side effects
Feeling sick, dizziness and sleepiness are possible. Read the leaflet for the full list.
This is a short overview, not a full list. Read your pack’s patient leaflet and speak to a pharmacist about any concerns.
Common questions
What if I miss a dose?
Check the leaflet or ask a pharmacist, because advice depends on the formulation. Never double the next dose.
Can I stop when pain improves?
After regular use, stopping suddenly can cause anxiety, shaking or sweating. Agree a reduction plan with your prescriber.
